This investigation uses the same data set as [1]. Daily Futures data for WTI- (ticker CL) and Brent-Crude Oil (LCO), Heating-Oil (HO), Unleaded Gasoline (RB) and Natural Gas (NG) from 2005 to July 2016. The historical simulation is run for the last 10 years, from 2005-06-01 till 2015-06-01. The initial index-value was set to 2.000.000$.In this study, we evaluate the effects of the oil price war on both crude oil futures and spot markets. Three futures and spot markets are considered: U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI, ticker: CL), European Brent (ticker: B), and Oman crude oil (ticker: OQD), which are benchmarks for the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East, respectively.West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is a light, sweet crude oil (petroleum with less than 0.5% sulfur is called sweet) considered one of the main global oil benchmarks, along with Brent oil.
