About 50/50… I’ve always been a console gamer and steam deck will be my first entry into PC gaming. Also being a console kid, there’s no where to play old PS and Nintendo games. The only thing is you'll need to have the backups for the games, so you'll need to make them on the Deck, or on your phone and transfer them to the Deck. Totally doable, but if you don't have a mouse and/or keyboard you'll be relying on the on-screen keyboard and the touchpad/joystick mouse.
No offense, but I don't get the feeling you're "really experienced". And even those that are can have some hurdles getting the pre-requisites for Switch emulation working. DS is better and easier.
