I have a 2000 sportsman 500. I can't seem to get a pulse from the carb to work the fuel pump. I can blow into the fuel pulse line and get fuel to pump out. Also did a vacuum check on the pump and it looked good. It seems like the carb is not pulsing the pump.

There a large vent hose on the transmission that goes all the way to the front and I don’t see a nipple where a smaller hose would attach. I’ll check the service manual and see if that helps. Those pumps go bad all the time. Pull the pulse line and see if any fuel comes out. None should, if any fuel comes out of the pulse line the diaphragm is torn. The diaphragm can also harden and now pump strong enough. Just pull the line to the carb and see if fuel is coming out when you crank it, if not when your lines are hooked up correctly ...
